Costa Rica Style: Lady in Lace

Thursday, April 23, 2015

When I was packing for Costa Rica, I didn't expect to be going out. I don't know why; I knew I was going to be with a group of college age kids. But I didn't pack any dresses or sandals or anything really. I brought along this lace kimono as a beach cover up, but it added a nice touch of dressiness to an otherwise boring jeans and tank top.

The art above is by Annette Castro of The Rustic Orange. She has beautiful, hand-painted wood signs with a variety of phrases ranging from romantic to inspirational. I follow her on instagram and not only is she a great artist, she's a great person as well! I love motivational quotes and prints for when I'm feeling a little down and out, and I have to admit I've been feeling that way a lot lately. Here's whats going on, and my best ways to deal.

Costa Rica: Friday in San Jose, Saturday Travels

Inbioparque in San Jose, Costa Rica

Our first day of the trip was mostly traveling. We got to the airport at 5am, and were in San Jose around 1pm. They were giving out free shots of Jameson at the airport, which seemed like a pretty good start to Spring Break to me. We exchanged our dollars into the Costa Rican currency, colones, and bought some empanadas for about 800 colones each (only about $1.25 but it certainly felt like a lot more when I handed over 5,000!).

Our first meal in Costa Rica! I ordered completely in Spanish!
